PS2D is a research center offering its members, around sixty researchers, an easy access to an expanding research environment. The Center is involved in seven major areas: (1) Financing development, (2) Natural resources, (3) Human capital, population and Employment, (4) Institutions, Governance and Business environment, (5) Dynamic production systems, technology and Competitiveness, (6) Business Globalization, (7) Investment, entrepreneurship and firm creation. Since its creation in September 2005, PS2D tries to achieve two objectives: (1) to be responsive to policymakers concerns by producing policy relevant research, and (2) to contribute high quality methodological and theoretical research in its areas of interest.
1. The academic value of an institution being measured by the solidity, density and wealth of its research activity, our challenge is to reach international standards, to contribute to economic knowledge and to the development of more appropriate concepts and theories. To this end, it has been essential for us to be part of a widening international network and to facilitate for our members all forms of cooperation and communication with researchers across the world and to help them publish in international journals.
2. Our research center has also been committed to contributing to the training of doctoral students through its doctoral school. The objective is to overcome the isolation, too frequent in our region, of promising young researchers and to improve their access to better jobs. This has led, in particular, to the involvement of many European Universities in the training of many of them and to the creation of a doctoral student network covering Maghreb and EU countries.
